The seven-day Pro trial
The first launch gives you seven days of full Pro with no account and no card. After it ends, reading, searching, forms, markup, pages and signing keep working, free, for good; editing, redaction, password protection, PDF to Word, OCR, signature styles and the other Pro tools wait for a licence.
During the trial
Every Pro tool is on for seven days from the first launch (launch day is day 1): editing text and images in place, redaction, password protection, PDF to Word, recognise text (OCR), signature styles, drawing, Scan’s extra filters and longer scans, and the themes with every icon pack. You do not need an account or a card to start it. Settings › Licence shows Pro trial · day 3 of 7, and a chip in the status bar counts the days.
After the trial
Nothing you made is locked away, and the free app keeps working:
- Read in light, dark, night and e-ink
- Fill any form, flat or with fields
- Sign by hand, with a certificate or with a USB token, and verify signatures
- Highlight, underline, strikeout, notes and text boxes
- Rotate, reorder, insert, extract, delete, split and merge pages
- Scan up to 20 pages in colour or greyscale
- Convert to images, text, Markdown and CSV in the Tools window
Pro tools stay visible. When you use one, Better PDF offers to unlock Pro; the status bar chip reads Unlock Pro. A signed document never gets a watermark.

Pro is one payment: $9.99 for the first 100 buyers (the founder price), $19.99 up to 500, $29.99 after that. One purchase covers Mac, iPhone and iPad.
