iPhone and iPad: Tools and Export

In the Library, Tools › See all lists PDF to Word, PDF to Images, PDF to Text, PDF to Markdown, Grayscale and Photos to PDF. In the reader, Share › Export converts a copy to Word, Images, Text, Markdown or CSV. Conversions run on the device, keep going in the background, and finish in the share sheet.

Every tool runs on the device. Nothing is uploaded, and conversions keep going in the background.

Tools

The Tools row in the Library has See all. From a PDF: PDF to Word, PDF to Images, PDF to Text, PDF to Markdown and Grayscale; pick one of Your PDFs or Choose from Files…. Into a PDF: Photos to PDF (up to 100 photos), which makes a new scan you can arrange in the pages grid.

Export from the reader

Tap Share in the reader. Convert a copy offers Word (.docx), Images (PNG; several pages arrive as one .zip), Text, Markdown and CSV (when tables are found). A small progress pill shows the page being converted. When it is done, the share sheet opens so you can save or send the file.

Below that: Send to Mac, Save to Files and Share… send the PDF itself.

A PDF that does not allow copying cannot be converted, and a password-protected one must be opened in the reader first.
